A drunk driver who fled the scene of an accident with injury was sentenced to four months in jail. The drunk driver, Homer Anthony Petty, 40, of Smithville, entered guilty pleas to charges of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and second-offense DUI. He was later located near the old Meadows Homes sales lot in a field and was identified as Homer Anthony Petty Sr.,” said McMinnville patrolman Justin Shrum who located the suspect hiding in the field. “He admitted he ran because he was scared.”Shrum said he knew Petty was drunk based on his unsteadiness.“He had slurred speech and had slobber caked around the sides of his mouth,” Shrum recalled.
