There was a monsoon as they were floating down the Barren Fork River. The downpour didn’t dampen spirits as organizer and Kids of the Community president Ricky Hodge says the event was still a tremendous success. While it was the second year for the float, it was the first year for timed races. Competitors left Pepper Branch Park and maneuvered their way down stream to the VFW.Jase Bouldin won first place with a time of 1 hour, 25 minutes. Ben Newman gave a spirited effort and showed his training paid off with a second-place finish. In the women’s category, Carrie Hale was first, followed by Judy Argo in second. In the boy’s division, Anthony Mendez was first and Santiago Campos and David Haycox tied for second.
