For the second week in a row, McMinnville police are searching for a hit-and-run driver.

A 19-year-old female riding a scooter was struck by a car Friday night at 7:30 p.m. on Faulkner Springs Road.

Police say be on the lookout for a Nissan Altima that’s light blue or silver with front-end damage. Anyone who sees such a vehicle can notify the dispatch nonemergency number at 668-7000.

The car was heading outbound on Faulkner Springs Road when the accident took place near the Catholic Church. The female was on the right side of the outbound lane when she was struck by the car and was found my emergency responders lying in a ditch. She is hospitalized with injuries to both legs.

“The Altima turned around in the church parking lot, traveled a few feet back to the scene of the crash, stopped, and then sped off,” said McMinnville Police officer Maggi Fann. “I don’t know why the car would leave the scene. Maybe they were driving without a license or maybe they were under the influence. I don’t know.”

Fann said officers are in the process of gathering footage from nearby surveillance cameras.
