Nuts taken from Westwood Bridge rail
Placeholder Image
TDOT officials spent Monday morning replacing 36 nuts that had been removed from Westwood Bridge. One lane was closed and flaggers were used to control traffic to give workers room to make the necessary repairs.TDOT officials could only speculate on the reasons the nuts were removed. One theory is kids may have been unscrewing and stealing them as a prank. However, this is doubted because of the strength and large wrench that would be required to accomplish this. The prevailing thought is someone was removing a few nuts each night with the plan of stealing a large section of railing to sell as scrap metal.
