Nonprofit request needed now by city

Local nonprofit organizations are running out of time to get their donation requests into the city of McMinnville. Get them in now, says Mayor Jimmy Haley.
“We have scheduled a meeting to consider nonprofit requests on June 6 at 6 p.m.,” he said. “We need the requests in this week. If you can’t get one in this week, get it in as soon as you can.”
The urgency lies in the paperwork necessary to be considered.
“If they wait until the last minute and the appropriate paperwork isn’t submitted, they may not be considered,” said Haley. “We need time to make sure they have everything we need to make our decision.”
Information must include a written request that includes the amount solicited and what the funding will be used for, as well as a copy of the organization’s budget for 2013-14 and last audit.
Donation requests from nonprofit organizations should have been considered last night, May 30, at 7 p.m. when officials met to discuss the Administration Department budget.
Haley says more time was needed.
“I don’t feel like organizations have had enough time to get their requests in,” said Haley. “We want to make sure we give them that.”
Requests can be submitted on the third floor of city hall, while the meeting June 6 to consider them will be held on the second floor.
