No Standard on Friday

It may be time to welcome in a new year, but Friday won’t be a time to welcome a Southern Standard to your newspaper box.
For the second Friday in a row, the Standard will not be publishing an edition.
Last Friday, the Standard office was closed in celebration of Christmas. This Friday, newspaper employees are getting time off in honor of New Year’s Day.
This will be the third year the newspaper has not published a newspaper at Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“There’s no school and no government meetings held during this time,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman. “This gives our employees more time to spend with their families during the holidays at a time when there’s not much local news to report. The Standard will resume our normal schedule of three editions per week on Jan. 3.”
