Anyone wanting to expand their learning or find educational activities for their children can check out the new iLearn Center on Colville Street. A nonprofit organization run by Jessica Castinata and Nora Wilson, iLearn offers learning experiences for people of all ages.
Says Castinata, “We specialize in everyday activities to enhance skills and opportunities, as well as unique hard-to-find learning classes to enhance your life.”
Castinata and Wilson have been working with the Warren County School System for several years to oversee the AIM afterschool program. AIM has offered educational opportunities for over 400 K-8 students a year at Bobby Ray, West, Warren County Middle School, Dibrell, Eastside, Irving College, Hickory Creek, and Morrison.
The nonprofit officially opened Nov. 13 with a professional development class for K-12 educators from all over the state. Teachers learned how to make roller coasters from paper, which they can then teach students.
During Christmas break, iLearn is offering Creative Kids, Tiny Tots Creative Stations, and Builders Club classes for children. Creative Kids and Tiny Tots participants will have access to a wide variety of art mediums, including clay, paint, screen printing, stamping, paper crafts, sculpture and much more. The Builders Club allows kids to create building projects with Legos, K-Nex, and Zoobs.
The center also offers a wide variety of classes for everyone. These include many crafts, technology, Lego leagues, language development, and K-12 Education STEM classes.
In December, iLearn will be offering classes for resin jewelry and chocolate making. Current class prices range from free to $20, which covers provided materials. Anyone interested in teaching a class is invited to contact the center.
