Mystery surrounds the firing this week of nationally acclaimed prosecutor Josh Crain, terminated by his boss District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis for unknown reasons.“I’m not going to discuss personnel issues,” said Zavogiannis when asked about firing one of her senior assistant prosecutors.Crain, who had just organized a fundraiser downtown Saturday to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, donning a Superman outfit during the 5K run, also declined comment.“I don’t think I should (comment) at this point,” Crain responded.Crain had been with the Zavogiannis administration since she was elected district attorney in 2006, defeating former District Attorney Dale Potter. It was Potter who actually hired Crain, putting him to work in the child support division. Crain was eventually moved to the criminal prosecution division by Zavogiannis where he had received national acclaim for his prosecutorial duties.Specifically the Animal Legal Defense Fund had named him one of the Top 10 Animal Defenders in the nation.
