Mullican, 31, stabbed to death
Investigators looking into altercation

An altercation turned deadly late Tuesday night when a man was fatally stabbed at a home on Warren Street.The victim, Anthony Loren “Andy” Mullican, 31, was found unresponsive in the doorway of the residence of 124 Warren Street when McMinnville police arrived around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a disturbance call.“Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive white male later identified as Andy Mullican,” said McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton. “He was in the doorway of the residence.”A preliminary investigation by McMinnville police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and District Attorney’s office revealed Mullican had engaged in a heated confrontation on the front lawn of the residence.“At some point during the confrontation, Mullican tried to enter the residence and received fatal stab wounds during the attempt,” said Denton, adding the victim was stabbed multiple times.The resident of the house, Ronald Weldon, 28, has been identified as the person who inflicted the stab wounds. Tyren Boyd, 26, was the third man involved in the altercation.“There are no charges at present,” said Denton, noting the victim’s body has been sent for autopsy while investigators continue looking into what caused the fight and subsequent fatal stabbing.
