Mosquito spraying to start soon

McMinnville Public Works would like the public to know spraying for mosquitos will begin in the next few days. New misting equipment has been purchased and is ready to use.
“Next week, weather permitting, we will begin spraying again,” said Public Works assistant director Brad Hennessee. “We completed training.”
City officials gave approval for the purchase of a new misting machine and chemicals two months ago. Employees have undergone training to use the new equipment.
No specific day has been set for spraying to begin. Hennessee says the weather has to be clear.
“There are at least two days next week where rain is expected,” he said. “We can’t spray in the rain. We will begin spraying this week, but I can’t give you an exact day.”
Time is also up in the air.
“We have yet to determine exactly when we need to spray,” said Hennessee. “Should it be in the early evening or wait until everyone has gone in for the evening? That is something we will have to determine.”
Because the first round of spraying has yet to be done, the department also does not know how long it will take to spray the entire city.
“Maybe we can get it done in one night, maybe it will take two to three nights, or maybe it will take a whole week,” said Hennessee. “We just don’t know yet.”
