A trip to Margaritaville will cost a father 48 hours in jail after he crashed his car after picking up his 9-year-old from school. The father, Roger Kane Morton, 49, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of DUI with a child under the age of 16 and reckless endan-germent. He was directed to serve 48 hours of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and must pay $350 plus costs, perform 24 hours public service work, attend DUI class, and lose his driver license for one year.He was charged after he crashed his car on Pleasant Hill Road earlier this year. Lawmen knew immediately he had been drinking when they arrived.“He had a strong smell of alcoholic beverage on his per-son and was very unsteady on his feet,” said sheriff’s dep-uty Jason Richardson, noting Morton was injured in the crash and was therefore unable to do a regular sobriety test.
