Intrigue continues to surround the next location of McMinnville Police Department as the list of potential sites is still growing.Along with aforementioned properties such as the Social Security office across from Walmart and the old Powermatic building on Morrison Street, more than 10 other sites are on a list being evaluated by city administrator David Rutherford. The list includes: USA Gym, Crouch Auto Sales, Shelton Motor Co., New York Grill, The Professional Building, and the old Bridge Builders office.“It looks like there are two or three pretty good deals out there, but we still haven’t made a decision,” said Alderman Junior Medley, who chairs the city’s Building and Grounds Committee. “To me, it looks like the Social Security office is the best prospect right now.”The Social Security Administration currently occupies the 7,000-square-foot building on the corner of the bypass and Old Smithville Highway, but it’s scheduled to move to Sparta Street in mid-2012.The asking price is $600,000, but Medley says that would include a roughly 1,000-square-foot addition and more parking spaces.“That price includes everything,” said Medley. “It includes adding a courtroom and it includes more parking.
