A man says he was forced to take drugs and was robbed by his girlfriend and another man who allegedly made him ingest some kind of liquid before stealing his money and many belongings.
The girlfriend, Anissa R. Degroat, 42, of Sparta and Garrett Duggin, 30, both entered negotiated plea agreements to lesser charges of theft and joyriding. General Sessions Judge Bill Locke gave them both 30-day sentences to serve in jail, with the balance of their 11-month, 29-day terms to be spent on probation.
They were originally charged with felony counts of robbery and theft over $10,000, for which they could have faced over 10 years in prison. They have been warned not to contact the victim in any way.
Their sentences come after they allegedly robbed the victim inside his home after Degroat had asked the victim to pick up Duggin.
“I was assaulted and forced to ingest an unknown liquid by syringe,” the victim claimed in his robbery warrant against the two.
The victim said he became disoriented while the assault continued and wasn't able to think clearly about what he was doing.
“They had me sign some checks and give them my PIN numbers,” the victim swore in the warrant.
The victim said the pair put him in the bathtub and covered him with towels before leaving the scene of the crime. They also stole his knife collection, $300 cash, his coin collection, all of his jewelry, and his 2011 Nissan Altima.
