A Harrison Ferry man has bled to death in his home after he accidentally cut himself while slicing a slab of bacon. The man, Ben Lowry, 72, was found by family members Monday afternoon when they went to check on him after he did not show up for a family outing.“It was a terrible scene,” said Sheriff Jackie Matheny.Matheny said appearances suggest Lowry was fixing a meal as he had already cut several pieces of bacon and had some beans on the counter.“It appeared the kitchen knife slipped and cut his arm,” Matheny said, noting it is believed Lowry was on blood thinning medication which made the bleeding more profuse. “There’s evidence he tried to use a shirt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.”Lowry was last seen alive Sunday. He lived alone.
