A Sparta man was injured Saturday when he was thrown from his four-wheeler while riding with friends in the foothills near Southside subdivision. The victim, James E. Presley, 60, was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment of possible internal injuries after the accident which happened around noon Saturday.According to sheriff’s department reports, Presley was riding in the hills near Southside Drive, which is located off Viola Highway. The area, which is a favorite location for four-wheeling enthusiasts, includes the foothills which backdrop the residential neighborhood and run over to the rock quarry.Witnesses to the accident said Presley was trying to climb a rock on his four-wheeler when it rolled backward and flipped, landing on top of his chest.Due to the remote location of the accident, ambulance service personnel, as well as members of the Warren County Rescue Squad, had to take four-wheelers into the wooded area. The mission took well over an hour due to the location of the victim deep in the woods.
