Love stories sought for Valentine's

The Southern Standard loves our customers. To show that love, the newspaper is holding a customer appreciation day on Valentine’s Day.
Free BBQ sandwiches will be served at our office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and discount subscription prices will be offered all day.
The Standard is giving advanced notice because of a special Love Story contest to be held in conjunction with customer appreciation day. The newspaper is encouraging local residents to submit a love story about a memorable moment of their relationship or a special Valentine’s Day memory. The most charming story will receive a grand prize love package of dinner for two, movie tickets, flowers and candy.
Anyone is eligible to enter the Love Story contest. There are no age groups. The story should be 250 words or less and the deadline to enter is Feb. 7. The stories can be sent by email to lovestories@southernstandard.com, or mailed to Southern Standard, Attn: Love Story, P.O. Box 150, McMinnville, TN 37111.
“We hope love is in the air for Valentine’s Day,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman. “I think we’ll get some very heart-warming stories and I look forward to reading them.”
The grand-prize story and other essays will be published in the newspaper.
As for customer appreciation day, subscriptions will be discounted 30 percent for those who sign up for home delivery and who live in Warren County. That’s $54 for a one-year subscription, $28.50 for six months, and $17.25 for three months.
Visitors can register for door prizes and a love wheel with other prizes will be spun throughout the day.
