A fugitive found hiding in a tree has been hit with vandalism charges after she kicked out a window in a deputy’s patrol car.The woman, Melody Dawn Lovell, 42, is set for hearing Sept. 19 to answer to charges of vandalism, evading arrest, and reckless endangerment.She was arrested outside a residence on Northcutt’s Cove Road after deputies were alerted there was someone near the residence. Lovell was wanted on outstanding warrants, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Billy Joe Crouch, who said she was found soon after lawmen arrived.“She was hiding in a tree at the address,” the sergeant said, noting she saw them coming and sprang from the tree. “She saw us and ran from the scene.”Crouch was able to chase down the fugitive and place her into custody.
