A woman was airlifted after she was struck by a car on the bypass Sunday night while walking to Walmart.The woman, Carolyn Preslar, 70, is recovering from her injuries at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga after the Sunday evening accident which happened near the intersection of U.S. 70 Bypass and Old Smithville Road.According to police reports, Preslar was walking from Arms Apartments and was crossing the bypass when she was hit by an eastbound Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Melba Pistole, 76. It was after dark and it appears Preslar stepped into the road not seeing the oncoming car.According to McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton, no charges have been filed and there is no indication drugs or alcohol were involved.
