WCHS student shot, killed
Sullivan, 17, dies Tuesday
Scout Sullivan was shot and killed Tuesday morning.

A Warren County High School student was shot and killed Tuesday morning in neighboring Cannon County after reportedly attacking a homeowner.
Scout Sullivan, 17, was killed during the incident, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. It happened just over the Warren County line on Spurlock Road, which is off Short Mountain Road in the Blues Hill community.
According to reports, Sullivan was spotted Tuesday morning in the yard of a homeowner acting in an unusual manner. He was said to be in the area looking for a relative.
When the homeowner approached Sullivan, he was reportedly not talking coherently. When Sullivan was asked to leave the property, he became combative and allegedly pulled a knife on the homeowner and cut him.
This assault was witnessed by a neighbor who decided to intervene. When the neighbor became involved, Sullivan was reportedly shot and killed by the neighbor.
The Cannon County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. Sheriff Darrell Young did not return calls for information.
Warren County Director of Schools Bobby Cox confirmed Sullivan was a junior at WCHS.
“Something like this is just tragic, very hard to take,” said Cox. “It’s been a tough day. We’ve made sure counselors and support staff are available for any students who want to talk.”
Sullivan received an outpouring of support on his Facebook page, which indicated he was an employee at Zaxby’s. He had previously played for the Pioneer football team.
