In the field of opportunity, it’s plowing time again.

Nearly 400 Warren County High School seniors are set to reach one of life’s first major milestones this Friday night at Nunley Stadium when they receive their high school diplomas.

Start time is set for 7 p.m. There are 390 seniors scheduled to graduate.

The ceremony will feature the WCHS choir singing “I Hope You Dance” and Savannah Saylors singing a solo “Wherever I Go.”

Speeches will be delivered by valedictorian Jacquelyn Becerra and salutatorians Kailey Wood and Makenzie Whitlock.

In keeping with tradition, Director of Schools Bobby Cox will deliver a few inspirational quotes to carry graduates into the future.

“It’s always a sad time to see your seniors leave, but you’re also happy that they will go on to do great things,” said Cox. “Hopefully, we’ve prepared them to do whatever they want, whether that’s going off to college, entering the workforce, or starting their own business. Graduation always brings with it dual emotions. It’s exciting to see them graduate, but it’s sad because it’s the last time they’re together.”

Due to parking issues, students will be bused to Nunley Stadium from WCHS. Students are to arrive at WCHS in cap in gown to board buses at 5:30 p.m. Buses will leave at 5:45 p.m. Lineup begins at 6 p.m. on the track.

Eyes always turn to the weather for the outdoor ceremony and rain is not currently in the forecast for Friday night. However, heat is. The latest AccuWeather forecast calls for the high temperature to reach 90 degrees Friday.

Project Graduation, to be held at WCHS, follows the graduation ceremony. The all-night party is open to graduating seniors and their guests.

All seniors must register between 10:30 p.m. and midnight for the event which is scheduled to last until 5 a.m.
