Waving gun, flushing pot nets charges

A man who allegedly waved a gun at a local apartment complex faces charges after police caught him hiding in a bathroom trying to flush a bag of marijuana down the toilet.The man, Joseph Michael Perrigan, 25, is charged with simple possession of marijuana, destruction of evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He will face hearing Aug. 1.Police responded to Country Place Apartments off Yager Road in response to calls of a man waving a gun around the crowded complex.“The man had come out of an apartment and pointed a handgun,” said McMinnville Police Lt. Bill Davis, noting officers then made their way into the apartment where Perrigan had sought refuge.“Officers discovered him hiding in a bathroom.” Davis reported, adding a Raven Arms 25-caliber pistol was found in his left back pocket when police took him into custody.Police also found some drugs on him, the lieutenant said, adding evidence suggests he had tried to get rid of the evidence.
