With school releasing for the summer, one final sweep of educator were honored with the Capturing Kids’ Hearts awards.
The distinction of Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) Celebrity of the Month is handed out monthly by the Warren County School system during the school year and offers recognition to an educator who is seen has having done an exceptional job with their classrooms by curating meaningful connections and promoting positive cultures.
Irving College administration nominated Wanamaker for far exceeding expectations in the way she instilled her classroom with response, responsibility and collaboration — all of which contribute to her ability to support her students as they learn about and develop social contracts.
Wanamaker was additionally recognized for building strong relationships with her students and always being able to work with students as they learn about how the values they pick up under her guidance “come to life every day in her classroom.”
A handful of other schools also chose school-level Celebrities of the Month.
• Librarian Sadie Newby was nominated by Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School. Newby was recognized for her willingness to celebrate with students for their individual milestones.
• ESL Teacher Devona Clark was nominated by Rex Crabtree as Eastside Elementary’s Celebrity of the Month for her welcoming demeanor with her students, building rapport with her students which will remain long after the go into the next chapter of their education.
• Behavior interventionist Kelci Bandy of West Elementary was nominated for leading monthly meetings with the CKH team and starting up all of the school’s reward parties.
