Voter registration drive Tuesday

The selection of the most important member of our nation’s government is on the horizon, yet many Americans still opt not to participate in the process.

A combined effort from Warren County’s Election Commission, as well as both major political parties, will be attempting to change that fact this week, however.

Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., the Election Commission is teaming up with both the Warren County Democratic Party and the Warren County Republican party to host its annual National Voter Registration Day Drive at the grassy lot downtown across from City Hall.

“This is an annual tradition that features both parties working in a nonpartisan effort to encourage the citizens of Warren County to register to vote in time for the Nov. 5 elections,” Republican Party representative Brian Carr said. “Citizens are encouraged to come out and register while enjoying hot dogs, popcorn, and ice-cold Dr Pepper graciously provided by our very own Dr Pepper Bottling Co.”

Warren County National Voter Registration Day is organized for the purpose of encouraging non-registered citizens of Warren County to become registered voters in compliance with the state and local regulations. Currently, 24,681 registered voters reside in Warren County.
