Volunteer fire departments could get $8K
Fire volunteer departments
After doubling the amount it gives volunteer fire departments last year, the county could increase that amount $2,000 more this year.
Warren County government could provide volunteer fire departments with another significant financial boost, a decision under consideration while reviewing nonprofit allocations for 2018-19. Last year, commissioners doubled the county’s allocation to its seven volunteer fire departments from $3,000 to $6,000. That decision was made after listening to pleas from Harrison Ferry’s Fire Chief Lynn Curtis regarding the financial strain caused by lack of membership dues being paid, the cost of insurance premiums, and the cost of fire engines and equipment.
