The Rumble in the Valley Truck and Tractor Pull is a fan favorite at Viola Valley Homecoming. The event starts Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The 2021 Viola Valley Homecoming is Saturday, Aug. 21, and there will be multiple activities to do throughout the day.

Viola Valley Homecoming Commission president Trent Prater is looking forward to having so many people in that small community visiting and enjoying the events. Last year, Viola Valley Homecoming was canceled due to COVID-19, so this year everyone is eager to get back to normal and see each other and enjoy these events again.

“I’m looking forward to just seeing everyone and having a good time,” said Prater.

Homecoming kicks off with a parade. This year, the parade will consist of decorated trucks instead of floats. The theme of the homecoming is “Small Town USA.” The entry fee for the parade is $5 and participants are encouraged to decorate their trucks according to the theme. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place finishers in the parade.

The day starts at 9 a.m. for those participating in the parade. Their decorated trucks will be lined up at the top of the hill at the Community Center at this time and the parade will begin at 10 a.m.

Concessions open at 11 a.m. During this time, there will also be an antique gas engine display and the museum will be open. “The Balloon Guy” Justin Reed will also be there.

The Car Show at Viola Church of Christ takes place at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $5, and there will be prizes for Best of Show and Most Unique.

The first tractor pull of the day, the Warren County Antique Tractor Association Tractor Pull will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live Music Starts at 11:30 and there will be two bands this year. The TC Bryant Band and the McMinnville Silver and Gold Band will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration for the Pedal Pull will be at 3 p.m. and the Pedal Pull event begins at 3:30 p.m. The final event of the night is the Rumble in the Valley Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. This pull will require a ticket. Tickets for adults are $10 and tickets for children six to 12 are $5. Children 5 years old and under get in free. Tickets will be available at the gate.

“The fan favorite event will probably be the MTPA Tractor Pull,” said Prater.

The truck and tractor pull usually draws a large crowd. This year should be no different, depending on the weather.

“Right now it’s hit and miss. It is what it is, we can’t stop the rain,” said Prater.  According to Prater, right now the Viola Valley Homecoming is good to go.
