Paying tribute to the brave servicemen and women who served America in the military will be the singular focus of the third annual Salute to Our Troops this Friday night at Park Theater.
Sponsored by McMinnville Noon Exchange and the city of McMinnville, the event will start at 6 p.m. at Park Theater with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The Silver and Gold Band will begin playing patriotic tunes at 5:45 p.m. The program will begin with the presentation of colors led by George Patterson, followed by the "Pledge of Allegiance" and the national anthem sung by Chalee Womack. Phil Mitchell, USMC, will serve as keynote speaker.
WCTE will present Ken Burns’ documentary film entitled the “The Vietnam War.” The movie is expected to begin around 7:15 p.m.
Prior to Salute to our Veterans, the Noon Exchange 2018 Veteran’s Calendar will be available across street at Topz restaurant. There will be a signing by local veterans featured in the calendar from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The calendars are $15 and go to benefit Veterans Matter, an initiative that helps provide housing for homeless veterans.
Veterans featured in the calendar include E.F. Smith, I.V. Hillis Jr., William Andrew Demonbreun II, Angie Higgins, Mark E. Livengood, Margie Anderson, Harold J. Griffith, W.C. Chilton, Hubert Boyd, Hugh Stubblefield, Jack Puckett, Ronald E. Horton and Donald R. Patterson.
The calendars will also be available for purchase at the Exchange Club table at the Park Theater event.
