The Warren County School District honored David Vandagriff as its classified employee of the year at the Warren County School Board meeting on Aug. 26.
Vandagriff has worked with the school district for over 11 years as a maintenance project manager and has been a crucial asset in multiple school projects.
Over the summer of 2023, Vandagriff worked tirelessly on projects across multiple Warren County schools. Through harsh weather and blistering heat, Vandagriff remained dedicated to his work, which impressed Dr. Courtney Bennett, Cathy Ewton and Jennifer Richey of Warren Connect, all of whom nominate him for classified employee of the year.
Former Warren County School Board member Bill Zechman stated that Vandagriff’s work for the school system is appreciated by himself and many teachers.
“I never shared with you how much teachers at the middle school were dependent on you during construction, but you made a difference,” Zechman said.
Vandagriff stated he attributes his success to his time at the Tennessee Technology Center, his time in leadership positions and the support of his coworkers.
“Studying maintenance at the Tennessee Technology Center helped me do well in my work at Warren County Schools,” Vandagriff said. “Being in leadership positions in several companies for years and being in the county commission has taught me a lot. I have been very fortunate to have had some supportive co-workers that have helped me through my endeavors.”
