Valentine’s Day is just over a week away. Given that the day of love doesn’t typically rank high on the holiday meter, we decided to see how those in our community feel about it.

According to our survey of 118 local residents (59 males, 59 females), ages 18 to 70+, many had lots of opinions about Valentine’s Day.

When asked if they like Valentine’s Day and plan to celebrate it, 38 men voted “yes” while 21 replied “no.” Although the majority of men voted “yes,” many admitted to being personally disinterested, participating only out of commitment to their significant other such as wife, fiancé, or girlfriend.

Women who were polled favor the holiday by a landslide with 47 voting “yes” and only 12 voting “no.” Overall, women expressed their anticipation for chocolates, a special dinner, flowers or simply quality time with their significant other, family or friends.

Said Becky Gross, “Oh yes, I think Valentine’s Day is nice and I love receiving flowers or candy of any kind from friends and family.”
