Utopia coming to Main Street Live on Friday

It’s time to get up and dance. Utopia takes the Main Street Live summer concert series stage this Friday night. Motown favorites, R&B and rock hits will be sprinkled with blues and jazz numbers.

Friday night’s installment of the Main Street Live summer concert series promises to be exciting and audience-engaging, if previous concerts by Utopia ring true.

Utopia is scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m.

“We truly are looking forward to returning to perform at Main Street Live this Friday,” said J.T. Northcutt, leader of the band.

When asked the most requested song, Northcutt struggled for a response.

“The most requested song is hard to say. It is according to the type of event and the audiences we perform for, but I think ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince may be the song that is requested more than a few others. I think it is because of the popularity of the song itself combined with the way we perform it.”

Food vendors are an integral part of the Main Street Live experience. Vendors include The Greek Station, Sparky’s Popcorn, Tako Sushi, Begonias, Dirty Dogs, Topz, and mouth-watering desserts from First National Bank.

Vietnam Veterans of America Royce Davenport Chapter will be collecting nonperishable food items for Warren County Emergency Food Bank. During the July 2 performance which featured the Joe Harvey Band, 88 items were donated.

Main Street Live is a production of Main Street McMinnville and is held on the West Lawn of Security Federal. Events are free thanks to sponsorship by Dr Pepper Bottling Company, the Law Offices of Galligan and Newman, Security Federal Savings Bank, Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas, Ben Lomand Connect, city of McMinnville, Peg Broadcasting and the Southern Standard, your source for local news.

Food vendors open at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the sounds.
