A man who reportedly pulled a knife after being involved in a U-Haul wreck and later refused to leave his home as officers converged has been hit with several charges.

Glynn Young, 59, faces charges of aggravated assault, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and resisting arrest for the series of events Friday afternoon, May 1.

It started when McMinnville Police answered a call at 2:30 p.m. in the area of Cadillac Lane and Sparta Street in reference to a U-Haul truck being driven erratically. While officers were in the area, a crash was reported at nearby Puff and Stuff Vape Shop on Sparta Street. The crash involved a U-Haul truck.

When arriving at Puff and Stuff, officers discovered the U-Haul had left the scene. Witnesses said the driver threatened them with a knife before driving away in the U-Haul.

The driver was identified as Glynn Young of Smith Street, which is located off South Chancery Street. As arrest warrants were being obtained, Mr. Young was located at his home by Warren County deputies. He reportedly retreated inside and refused to leave.

After a standoff of around 40 minutes, Mr. Young was taken into custody around 4 p.m. after a brief altercation with law enforcement.

With most court appearances postponed for the entire month of May, Mr. Young has been given a June 11 court date in General Session Court.
