Viola wants to pull a crowd this Saturday with the return of the Viola Fire Department Truck and Tractor Pull. The pull will be May 22 beginning at 7 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit Viola Volunteer Fire Department.
Adult tickets are $10. Admission for children 6-12 years old is $5, while children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at the gate only.
People will be let in at 5 p.m. with Prater’s BBQ being served at the concession stand. Viola Fire Chief Wayne Davenport said, “I suspect there will be a good crowd.” He said after missing last year and people being cooped up, they’ll want to come out.
The pull will be held at the field across from Town Square. “If you get to downtown Viola, you’ll find the track,” Davenport said.
This is a Middle Tennessee Tractor Pullers Association event with all MTPA-sanctioned classes. It attracts pullers from across Tennessee and Kentucky. Sanctioned classes: 4300 mini trucks, 5500 super stock trucks, 5500 economy hot rod tractors, 6200 LLSS tractors, 6200 pro stock trucks, and 8000 2.5 diesel trucks. Non-sanctioned classes will also be available.
“It’s usually a good fundraiser for the fire department,” Davenport said. Davenport isn’t planning on pulling anything himself, but he said one of his crew members is pulling something this year.
