A man faces child endangerment charges after he allegedly stashed his gun under a child seat after he was pulled over.
The man, Terry Austin Tittle, 28, of Spencer is charged with child endangerment and possession of drugs.
The incident happened after deputy Brystol Davis pulled over a Nissan Maxima, suspecting the driver was a man who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
“Upon making the stop, the driver was not (the man we were looking for) but a backseat passenger was identified as Austin Tittle,” the deputy said, noting Tittle was wanting for violation of probation in Davidson County.
Davis said he noticed something suspicious as Tittle was instructed to get out of the car. “When asked to step out of the vehicle, I saw him placing a handgun under a child seat that was occupied.”
The deputy arrested Tittle for stashing the gun under the child’s seat and then found a bag of marijuana lying in the floor near where he had been sitting. The handgun, a 32-caliber Cobra, was retrieved from under the child seat.
