Suspects arrested in the first of a pair of drug raids last week at McMinnville Housing Authority homes appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Last Thursday, March 6, investigators from the McMinnville Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 119 Hardaway St. after surveillance and undercover operations indicated the existence of drug activity on the property.

Arrested in Thursday’s raid were Dennis Burks, Cody Martinez and Kelly Arnold Sanders.

According to arrest reports, after the warrant for 119 Hardaway was obtained, investigators saw a vehicle leave the residence and conducted a traffic stop, during which Sanders was arrested on an active warrant. Upon being transported to the Warren County Jail, she was found to be concealing a bag of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, leading to a charge of introduction of contraband into a penal institution as well as possession of meth and violation of probation.

Upon entering the residence at Hardaway St., Officers report they made contact with a male, identified as Martinez, who also had active warrants. Martinez was reportedly seated on the toilet, and a bag containing what officers believed to be methamphetamine residue was open in the water.

Numerous items of paraphernalia were discovered, and while searching a room reportedly belonging to Burks, a bag of white, crystal-like substance believed to be meth was located in a dresser, as well as other paraphernalia, including a small bag of a substance believed to be marijuana, digital scales and used meth pipes.

Burks faces charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule VI substance. Martinez is charged with tampering with evidence, failure to appear and violation of probation.

All three suspects appeared in General Sessions Court for arraignment Tuesday.
