Warren County codes director Rich Thompson was recognized at this month’s County Commission meeting and was sent off with a standing ovation.

Thompson is retiring soon, and is handing over his position to Jason Grove. County Executive Jimmy Haley awarded Thompson an Employee Recognition certificate thanking him for his service to the county and acknowledged his job was not always easy.

“With the growth that has been taking place across all of Tennessee in most of the Southeast, the building permits have been almost unbearable,” said Haley. “I mean it has almost been uncontrollable and with one man in the office, it has been all our codes director can oftentimes do in one day. He has adapted to new technology that oftentimes helped in the process.”

Thompson will now be working part-time for a while in order to train Grove.

“Thank you and we appreciate you,” said Haley.

Thompson was appreciative of the recognition and says he hoped he made an impact on the county.

“Thank you very much for the opportunity to serve Warren County. I hope I left it better than it was when I showed up,” said Thompson.

The County Commissioners and others in attendance gave Thompson a standing ovation following his comments Monday night.
