Over 100 election officials descended on Locust Street last week as Warren County played host to the Tennessee winter meetings.“We hosted for the Middle Tennessee division this year,” said election administrator Donna Smith of the meeting and seminar held at the county government building. “We were pretty packed inside the Magnolia Room but we had fun and learned a lot.”Smith said election vendors were on hand as well as the vice presidents for the state election commission. Election commissioners and administrators were in attendance.“This is a way to bring everyone up to date about what has changed as we go into the elections this coming year,” said Smith, noting petitions for local offices up for election in 2018 became available last week. The major topic of discussion was cybersecurity and online voter registration.“Online registration is the hot topic this year since it’s new and it hit the ground running,” Smith said, noting there have been 32 voters register online in Warren County since the option was first offered earlier this year.
