McMinnville Police Department (MPD) was called to conduct a welfare check at the Lind Street residence of Dustin W. Taylor on Thursday, May 15. MPD Officer Shirley responded to the request and, upon arrival, made contact with Taylor in the driveway.

A report prepared by MPD indicates Taylor stated his juvenile son refused to get ready to leave for school and the situation escalated to him allegedly grabbing his son and forcing him out of his room, through the residence and toward the vehicle.

Taylor’s sister-in-law was outside the residence and reportedly witnessed him slam his son into the vehicle a minimum of two times, allegedly causing the rear passenger side window to shatter and dent the door. Taylor’s daughter, who is also a juvenile, told MPD at the scene she had witnessed her father slam his son against a wall inside the residence earlier.

Officers report the son’s body showed redness around the lower neck and chest area, where the daughter suggested her father grabbed him, and lacerations on the upper middle section of his back.

Taylor was charged with domestic assault and taken into custody at Warren County Jail without incident, where he would later post bail. Due to the nature of his allegations, Taylor was released with a GPS monitoring device and given a no contact order with the purported victims.
