Hickory Creek fourth-grader Noah Pack wasn’t going to take a wild guess at how many pieces of chocolate were stuffed in a plastic container. He was going to apply his math skills.“I counted how many there were from top to bottom and then I multiplied by the number of sides,” said Noah. That sort of thinking is exactly what educators at Hickory Creek Elementary aimed to promote when they held a STEM night Tuesday. There were all sorts of challenges sprinkled around the school requiring children to use STEM skills -- science, technology, engineering and math. There was a scavenger hunt where students had to search for different shapes.
