A popular event that showcases the beauty of historic downtown McMinnville and the businesses located there could be returning in this year.

McMinnville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will be considering a request from Junior Auxiliary of McMinnville member Hannah Johnson to allow Sip & Saveur: Tasting and Art Showcase on Sept. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The 2020 event was scheduled for April but it was cancelled due to COVID-19.

“We are super excited for the return of Sip & Saveur,” said Johnson. “We know how much everyone is ready to get back to attending events, helping the community, and just generally being together. So we’re really excited.”

Johnson says the decision was made to push the event to September in order to allow coronavirus vaccines to become more widespread.

“We would have loved to do it in April, as usual, and while we had a lot of support for it to happen then, we decided to push it to the fall with hopes that our community will feel safer with a little more time for the vaccines to do their job.”

Junior Auxiliary of McMinnville will be making its request before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen this Tuesday, March 23, at 7 p.m.
