Tuesday evening’s heavy rain did not dampen spirits at the Warren County A&L Fair Dairy Show, Pee Wee Showmanship Division.
Sixteen contenders, all ages 9 and under, participated in the dairy show. Each proudly walked a dairy cow around the arena, and each received a trophy as they exited.
“The event reaches back at least 51 years and all the children have to do is come and tell someone they want to show and a dairy calf will be provided,” said fair first vice president Steve Grandey. “It’s a way to encourage the children not to be afraid of the animals.”
Said Dairy Barn supervisor J.B. Moore, “This event goes back as far as I can remember.” In his family, there are four generations who carry on this yearly tradition.
Moore ended by saying, “The children really have a good time and look forward to it from one year to the next.”
