A woman has been sentenced to 15 days in jail for laying her hands on a police officer while trying to stop the lawman from arresting her friend. The woman, Lashaie Wright, entered a guilty plea before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of assault and preventing the service of legal process. She was ordered to serve 15 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence with the balance to be served on probation once her jail time is finished. Given her lack of prior record, she was granted a judicial diversion which means she can have her criminal record erased once her probation is complete.Wright found herself in trouble when she laid her hands on McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell as the officer was trying to arrest Kinsley Fisk, who was a fellow passenger in a car with Wright.
