The process to find Warren County’s new Finance Department director is moving forward, and the nine applicants will be interviewed this month. County Executive Herschel Wells recommended last month to members of the county Financial Management Committee they delay the selection process until after the August election in order to allow the new county executive a voice in picking the next director because the two work closely together. Wells said Thursday his decision was unwise given the interview/ selection process will take days, the person chosen may have to give a two-week notice to their current employer, and the new person needs to work alongside Linda Hillis before her departure Sept. 3.
