The Warren County School Board honored all Warren County Middle School wrestling coaches as its certified employees of the month and Delita Turner as its classified employee of the month during the monthly School Board meeting last Thursday.
WCMS wrestling coaches Ben Matheny, Bryan Matheney, Joe Damon and Zane Maxwell were recommended for employee of the month by Rachel Graves.
“I am pleased to nominate the middle school wrestling coaching team for employee of the month,” Graves said in her nomination. “This dedicated group of coaches consistently goes above and beyond to make a positive impact in the lives of our students. These coaches are more than just instructors; they are mentors and role models for students who may not have the opportunities to build confidence or develop a sense of discipline before joining the team. Through their guidance they instill not only strength and athletic ability but also essential life skills like perseverance, hard work and respect. The time and energy they dedicate to the development of each wrestler both as an athlete and as a person are truly remarkable. They create a supportive environment where each student is valued, challenged and encouraged to give their best regardless of their skill level when they first start. Beyond the mat these coaches are shaping character and building strong young citizens. Their impact is evident in the growth we see in our athletes, not just in their sport, but in their confidence, work ethic and attitude toward challenges in all aspects of life. I am grateful for the tremendous dedication and leadership they bring to our community and it is clear their influence extends far beyond the wrestling season.”
Turner was recommended for classified employee of the month by Patricia Hiner, who works in health services for Morrison Elementary School.
“There is no way I can imagine doing the job that Delita Turner does,” Hiner said. “I can’t get three people to agree what to eat and to like what I serve. Delita manages these types of issues every day and not just for three people but for almost 200 adults and students managing the cafeteria at Morrison Elementary School. Not to mention, she does this with a positive attitude and a smile on her face every day. She goes above and beyond just doing her job to ensure students and staff alike have delicious healthy meals and snacks. She makes sure middle school students have an opportunity to eat a late breakfast and makes sure sack lunches are available all the while ensuring any special accommodations are met. We at Morrison are blessed to have Delita as our cafeteria manager and we are blessed to recommend her for classified employee of the month.”
