An emergency service in Warren County is seeking to expand.
The city of McMinnville has been asked to consider lending financial support to an expansion at Warren County Rescue Squad. Members of the city Building and Grounds Committee met Tuesday to consider the request.
“I thought there would be someone here tonight to talk to us about this,” said Alderman Steve Harvey. “Does anyone have any information on it?”
City administrator Nolan Ming said, “I can speak briefly to what I know. They are requesting that we consider supporting an addition to the Rescue Squad building. It will be to the north of the existing building. They have a new truck they’ve ordered and need a place to put it.”
McMinnville owns the building and property used by the Rescue Squad. City officials let the Rescue Squad use it free of charge, as well as make an annual donation to cover the department’s insurance premium. In the past, the city has also covered the cost of some property improvements.
“I think there’s an embankment there to the north of that building,” said Ming. “They don’t think it would be a problem to excavate there and add a new bay.”
Harvey asked about an approximate cost, while other committee members asked about the size of the building.
“When I talked to Chad Hillis, the chief, he didn’t have exact information yet,” said Ming. “If that’s what you’re looking for, I think they can come back with a site plan and more information, if you are willing to continue the conversation.”
The discussion was tabled until additional information is received.
