Tennessee Office of Homeland Security agent Barry Crotzer offers Rotary Club of McMinnville members advice on how to survive an active shooter situation.
How prepared are you to survive an active shooter situation at your place of work, grocery store, or during a social outing?“The number of active shooters are rising and they are rising quickly,” said Barry Crotzer, an agent with the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security. “In the last four years, the fatality rate has gone up 150 percent which means the individuals who carry these attacks out are more driven, more motivated, more prepared and more deadly than they have ever been.”An active shooter is an individual engaged in killing, or attempting to kill, people in a populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.
