“Here Comes the Rain Again,” a 1983 song by the Eurythmics, will not befall Mixtape in two weeks.
McMinnville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen was asked to consider Park Theater as an alternative venue for Mixtape, an 1980s tribute band, on Aug. 26. That concert was scheduled as the finale for the Main Street Live summer concert series on July 29, but was rescheduled due to threat of rain.
“Main Street McMinnville has requested the use of Park Theater as a rain contingency and for us to waive that fee,” said Mayor Ryle Chastain during Tuesday’s session. “We did this for the Joe Harvey Band show.”
Weather-related cancellations are nothing new for Main Street Live, a Friday night outdoor concert series offered in June and July. During most seasons, one or two concerts are typically canceled due to rain. While the Joe Harvey Band concert on July 1 did not require a venue change, Entice on July 8 ended shortly after it began, rain being the cause.
In attendance with Chastain were Vice Mayor Everett Brock and Aldermen Zach Sutton, Rachel Kirby, Sally Brock and Steve Harvey. Absent was Alderman Stacey Harvey.
The request was unanimously approved by board members.
