If communication fails, condemnation efforts will begin to replace a deteriorating bridge on Old Shelbyville Road.The Warren County Commission met Monday and approved a request from the county Highway and Bridge Committee to allow the department’s engineer, Kyle Hazel, to initiate eminent domain procedures to acquire the land necessary for bridge replacement, if needed. The bridge is located close to the Coffee County line and is considered by the state to be the worst bridge in Warren County.“The bridge on Old Shelbyville Road, no doubt, is one of the most critical structures needing to be replaced in the Warren County bridge inventory,” said Hazel. “TDOT has a bridge grant program.
