An alleged fight between a local couple resulted in felony charges against a 29-year-old McMinnville man.

Jonathan Blake Myers was booked into the Warren County Jail Monday night, Feb. 3, on a charge of aggravated assault. As of Thursday’s press time, he was still being housed at the jail under a $15,000 bond.

According to arrest warrants filed last week, Sgt. Jay Hutchings and Officer William Sparkman of the McMinnville Police Department were dispatched to a call of a reported physical domestic disturbance. Upon their arrival, the officers met with the complainant, who was receiving care from medics on site for visible injuries to her face and neck. The victim alleged her boyfriend, Myers, had pulled her hair, choked her and punched her in the face during an argument. Photos of her injuries were taken to aid in the investigation.

Aggravated assault is a Class C felony in Tennessee, and is a violation of TCA 39-13-102, which defines the offense as:  Intentionally or knowingly committing an assault which results in serious bodily injury to another; results in the death of another; involves the use or display of a deadly weapon; or involves strangulation or attempted strangulation.

If he is able to post bond, the judicial system has ordered Myers to wear a GPS monitoring device, at his own expense. He is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, and any attempt to violate any conditions of his bond will be sent to local law enforcement agencies.

Myers is scheduled for arraignment in General Sessions Court Feb. 11.
