Murder trial takes graphic turn

Day one of the Bryan Cooke double murder trial took a graphic turn Monday afternoon when jurors saw pictures of the bodies of both victims.

Gary Dodson was found lying next to a living room sofa. A pillow on the sofa and the cushion where his upper body would have been positioned were both bloody.

Gail Dodson was found next to the bed in the master bedroom. Her nightshirt was heavily soaked in blood.

Cooke is on trial for killing the Dodsons, who were found in their home on Toney’s Lane on Monday, June 30, 2015. Prosecutors say they were killed either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

The pictures of the Dodsons provided a sobering reminder of the brutal nature of the murders. Family members openly wept in the courtroom while the pictures were shown on a large video screen.

Prosecutors says an 8-inch knife was the murder weapon.
