MTSU to present story of Dave Macon
Middle Tennessee State University Arts is bringing its play Walking in the Sunlight: The Legacy of Uncle Dave Macon back to the county where the journey began. Macon was born in Warren County in 1870.
MTSU will be performing “Walking in the Sunlight: The Legacy of Uncle Dave Macon” at Park Theater on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. A native of Warren County, Macon was born in 1870. He first performed professionally in 1921 for a church benefit in Morrison. Macon was an established performer and recording artist before he joined the WSM Barn Dance – the Grand Ole Opry’s original name – in 1926.
