Movies in the Park to begin Friday

“Lilo & Stitch” will be the first film featured in this year’s Movies in the Park. The movie is being offered free of charge at Ramsay Park at 8:15 p.m. this Friday. Smartt Assembly of God is providing concessions at no cost for all visitors.

The popular Movies in the Park event will be making a comeback this Friday at Ramsay Park with the family favorite “Lilo & Stitch.”

McMinnville Parks and Recreation recently posted a poll on its Facebook page asking for community feedback on which films they would most like to see. From the 15 options that included classics such as “Finding Nemo” and “Hercules,” “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Sandlot” emerged on top.

“I see Movies in the Park as a great way to get people outside and celebrating the summer with a fun, family-themed movie such as ‘Lilo & Stitch,’” said events coordinator Michael Benusches. “I wanted to offer a free event for residents of McMinnville to enjoy with their families and this seemed perfect.”

In addition to the film, Smartt Assembly of God will be providing free concessions in the form of chips and soft drinks. Visitors are invited to bring their own chairs and blankets so they can enjoy the summer evening in comfort.

“Lilo & Stitch” will be played at 8:15 p.m. at Ramsay Park on Friday, June 4.

Should weather be inclement, movie viewing will be moved to another date in the near future.

The second installation of Movies in the Park will feature “The Sandlot” and will be shown July 9 with more details to be determined at a later date.
